There were some large classes out today in the “Beef cattle of Native Origin” classes. There were Highlands, Welsh Black, Murray Grey, Ruby Red Devon, Dexter, Shorthorn and our Lowlines so it was a very wide mix of types and hard work for the Judge

We were very pleased that our bull Conker got 3rd place in a class of 8.

Then we had the yearling heifer class with Wessex Claudia & Wessex Calista – It was a very large class and these 2 are only just 12 month up against animals of upto 23 months but they showed themselves very well, they then went into the home bred pairs class where they came second to a lovely pair of welsh blacks – one of which went on to win the overall championship. These 2 yearlings were only halter broken in the last week and yet they were calm and totally unfazed by this first trip to a show, they were a credit to the breed showing the excellent temperament
